Just another UNDERSTATEMENT...

Last night’s game was a good example of what I think the Ducks could/should be doing to every team right now. Steam rolling over them like they did to St. Louis. There was a bit of back and forth goals there in the beginning, but once both Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf scored…that was it. You could just tell things were clicking last night (unlike it was against the Kings). I can usually tell how the game is going by my “anxiety” level while watching. There was none of that last night. Tuesday on the other hand…MUCH anxiety (maybe a big part of that was I hate when the Ducks lose to the Kings and I didn’t want to have to witness that).

For the most part none of this really has to be said, but I’m going to do it anyway. Perry and Getzlaf…those guys are UNBELIEVABLE. It was very frustrating watching them play the way they did in the first games of the season, ESPECIALLY after the way they played in the preseason! Somehow, these guys are just getting better and better everyday! I always thought these guys were phenomenal, and yet, they are making the word “phenomenal” look like an understatement. I don’t think they would be as great as they are without each other, and in fact Getzlaf agrees…

"It's tough to say; it's the chemistry you develop," Getzlaf said when asked
about the line's production. "Corey and I have been playing together for four
years. At the start of this season, we had this mind-set that we had to do a lot
more than we did in previous years. I think it got us away from playing together
a little bit. We talked about it and realized we're not good enough to play on
our own. So we kind of got back together and got back in sync." -Ryan Getzlaf LA Times
We’ve all heard about how great Teemu Selanne thinks Getzlaf is. Selanne is often saying that he doesn’t think Getzlaf realizes how good he is. Agreed. Getzlaf only took 2 shots on goal last night. They were both goals (true one was an empty netter…but did you see that empty netter? Beautiful goal). I’m sure the Ducks wish he would take more shots.

The Ducks aren’t the team they are without that first line. Getzlaf isn’t Getzlaf without Perry. Perry isn’t Perry without Getzlaf.

Check this out before it changes...although hopefully not too much NHL Leaders

Likewise…it’s not easy to be the third guy on that line…and I can’t help but give Chris Kunitz so much credit for everything he’s doing. I’ve been talking a lot about him alot lately, because I don’t think he’s getting the attention he deserves just because he’s not the big goal scorer or the top point getter. Thankfully there was a great read about the things he does for whatever line he’s on. He maybe the third guy on every line he plays with, but I think it’s clear that he is just as vital to the success of those lines. He may not go out and score goals, but the assists he’s getting are just as important. He’s so much smaller than both Perry and Getzlaf and he takes the dirt, the extra hits, so those guys can get open and do what they do! I hope the Ducks remember that when talking to Sundin!

I can’t help but gush about these guys. I’m sure…no…I HOPE that I get to gush about them for the rest of the season and many more to come. It’s a pleasure to watch them to play. They make me a proud fan.
