I think I've seen that one before

Deja vu?

3 on 3 in overtime...Scott Niedermayer winning the game...Todd Marchant mobbing him behind the net...the team dog pile...Scotty skating away as if the Ducks win games like that every night.

CRAZY!

One thing is for sure...Roberto Luongo must really hate Scott Niedermayer's OT heroics. I for one, LOVE them!

I can't say that the Ducks played a great game. I don't think they did. However, the crowd was into the game last night. Whether it was boo-ing some questionable calls (ie Getzlaf's interference...which I don't think would have been called if it was ANY OTHER TEAM. Weak call in my opinion), cheering for ALL goals, including those recalled...the crowd definitely offered support. Ironically the video board introduction before the game was encouraging the fans to get pumped up as well. GOOD! I'm glad that message is being made loud and clear to the fans. It's important and a big part of the reason that I LOVE being there. I am once again without a voice...and that's how I like it. I know it's hard to get involved in the game when there isn't anything to cheer about, but last night was a different story on many levels.

Goal tending. Jonas Hiller was outstanding last night. I find that I say that about him more often than I do JS Giguere these days. Again, I still think Hiller needs to hide his disappointment a little better, but his rebound control was fantastic last night and he just seemed to soak up all shots thrown at him. No sloppy seconds there. Seeing Hiller flip, spin, grab...he did it all to make some huge saves last night. At one point in the last few minutes of the game, he had what was by far the save of the night. Many good scoring chances for Vancouver were turned away by Hiller and he definitely did a majority of the work when it came to helping the Ducks pull out the win.

The new guys are looking fantastic! Petteri Nokelainen gets a goal, Ryan Whitney and Erik Christensen both get 2 assists apiece (minus their 2 recalled goals of course). Hopefully this is a spark for not only those 3 guys, but for the team as well. Great contribution by the newbies...I'm going to have to start working on some nicknames. Any ideas? Big concern was hearing that James Wisniewski left the game during the second period. I feel guilty for not noticing while I was at the game, I'm usually very aware of that. Anyway...I'll keep my eyes peeled about updated information regarding him.

Another huge factor was capitalizing on rebounds. Both Ryan Getzlaf and Nokelainen scored goals off of rebound opportunities. So many times in the last few games I've felt like I see opportunities, but no one is in front of the net to pick up the loose change (dimes I'm sure...you know what I'm talking about el toro).

In the end...it all comes down to this...a win, 2 points, some momentum, continued hope for the post season.

It will be interesting to see if the Ducks can take the momentum of a very big win against a very good team with them into Sunday's game.

Until then...

GO DUCKS!!!
