That one is for my friend Mini (her name is Krystal, but she'll be referred to as Mini from here on out). She asked this morning if I had blogged yet and I reminded her that after Sundays loss, she and Ramon banned me from writing pre-game blogs! We are all way too superstitious. Yet here she is asking for something to read! So since she asked for it...
I'm VERY excited for today. Many reasons of course...Friday for one.
Who doesn't love Fridays? (Ok now I can think of two people who don't...sorry loves). Anyway its finally hockey night again for Ducks fans! Don't get me wrong, I think this week off was a good thing, but it's been too long already. I felt it this week as there was nothing to look forward too (not entirely true, more on why later). More importantly it's time to stop dwelling about the Burkie bail (yes I'm starting to feel bitter about it even though I'm still sad to see him go) and time to usher in a new Ducks era. I can't say that I know what it's like (obviously), but I would like to believe that this will be easier for the players to push aside than say...waiting for 2 of your key players to make up their minds about retirement. None the less, It's time to move on and not time to worry or really even care about what Burke decides to do. We all know we're going to be hearing endlessly about it until it happens and I for one hope that it happens sooner than later.
One of my favorite things about this team/organization is all the things they do off the ice. It just seems like as a group, there is an equal amount of focus going towards helping others. I am always impressed by this. Not only that, but it makes hockey visible to so many other people who might not take notice. By visiting students this week to participate in Reading is the GOAL day and breaking the ice on a new exhibit for the Discovery Science Center, it's just another way to get this community aware of what a great organization the Ducks are and hopefully will get more people interested in hockey altogether. I love that. It really makes me a proud fan.
On a side note, I was all ready to go on Wednesday with a blog...about nothing important. It was a filler and it will still pop up here eventually probably during another week where there are few games to talk about. ANYWAY...that blog was sidetracked, as was my lunch on Wednesday, by the Burke news. However, there was one part of the blog that I wanted to include sometime this week. It's not Ducks hockey related, and I'm sorry for that.
I turned 25 and 366 days on Tuesday (it was, in fact, something I wasn't ORIGINALLY looking forward to this week and turned out better than I expected). Overall, this year has been nothing short of interesting for me and I was dreading the day a bit, but it was actually quite wonderful. Which really brings me to the reason I wanted to talk about it here. Friends and Family. They are the most wonderful people ever and I just can't thank them enough for this past week of celebration. I had 2 birthday events. Saturday, dinner with friends and family and again on Tuesday night when Ramon and Mini made me dinner. I really just wanted to show them my appreciation and love for everything they ALL do for me. They have been unbelievably supportive and wonderful and I can't thank them enough.
If anyone has friends who are 1/2 as wonderful as mine are...you are very lucky.
Anyway...
Here is where you can insert a comment where I say something about how this weekend SHOULD be easy for the Ducks. But I'm not going to do that...because like I said, I'm TOO superstitious. Plus, it would cause me to be a beggar and unless they CHOOSE to play hard and win, I'll just feel like a fool again!
GO DUCKS! Let's show 'em what you're working with (haha, I don't know where that came from either...)!
