WHAT?!

WHAT?!

That was my initial response when I got both a text message and phone call from friends regarding Brian Burke stepping down.

I'm still trying to get my jaw off the floor. I don't know what to think. I don't know what's going to happen and I really don't know what to expect for the rest of this very young season.

I have to be honest though...as much as my Ducks heart wanted Burke to say on and extend his contract...the logical portion of my brain said that he was going to leave. The rumors were annoying...very annoying. However, they were all too logical. I didn't want to believe them then and I'd still wish they weren't true. I personally really liked him. I really liked his honesty and how bold he was. He took risks. Some were worth it in the end...others not so much. Other GM's may not like him and other organizations may have disagreed with the choices he has made, but I guarantee that in the hockey world, his every move will be watched like a hawk for the next 9 months...or until he's signed with someone else. On that same note...he's going to be hounded by those East Coast teams because he is a very good GM.

The timing is just shocking!

And here I was thinking there was going to be NOTHING going on for the next few days in Ducks land. Never count Burkie out though...that guy always comes through with headlines doesn't he?!

hmmm...I wonder. Was this decision of his made BEFORE OR AFTER his talk with Mats Sundin?!
